Summit Run for Pinoy Glory – Reviews

After Finishing the 16k distance

After Finishing the 16k distance

After the SunPIOLOGY Run 2012 at Mckinley Hill Taguig City last November 25, 2012 another advocacy run was held last Sunday ( December 01, 2012) the same venue entitled Summit Run for Pinoy Glory, a gift to our Filipino Paralympic Athletes. It was a great run for me because I am one of the participants of 16k distance no pain and no injury felt in the whole race. Sharing what I feel before the event itself, I am thinking if I will join the race because I was traumatized what happened in SunPIOLOGY Run 2012 ( a week before this event) where I experienced the usual injury of the runners in the middle of the race 800m from the starting line, cramps – I had a fear that might happen again. So I hesitated if I will be participating or not and besides I am also registered in my first full marathon on the next day at Quezon International Marathon 2012. Proud that this is my best record despite of my no enough training at all, I did for the first time a non-stop running for about one hour and nine minutes on a steep road (uphill and downhill) located in the McKinley Hill Taguig City.

While staying in the assembly area to wait the gun start, I had a short  conversation with the Paralympic athletes and asked about last Paralympic Games held in London last August 2012. In the middle of our conversation while sharing his experiences I’m glad in their dedication and courage to continue giving honor in our country beyond their physical condition. It was a great honor for everyone especially to whose who participated and supported  the event, thru this passion we provide a huge boost to our real heroes – Filipino Paralympic athletes.

The route was the same with the SunPIOLOGY Run 2012, the only difference when you reach the Heritage Park, you will turn back straight ahead about 500m before Lawton Avenue and turn back to Heritage Park then back go straight to the finish line – in the 16k distance.

I really enjoy the run but still there some things should be noted and need improvement especially when it comes to the safety of our participants.

To Shadowfax Events Organizer:
– Next time, much better if you will make the preparation earlier especially the assembly area so runners can have time to drop by indifferent sponsor booths.
– Starting Line, PRIORITY is to have an electricity, runners are very particular in their personal time. Much better 2 – 3 hours before the event, everything is ready. 😀

Technical Team:
– Think FIRST the safety of our runners 🙂 Please provide a lane for the runners only.
–  Race Staffs –  be aware and alert for the participants who are taking advantage especially in the part where the problem can come together ( Loop part for 16k runners) – There are some runners do not turn in the 2nd loop, they proceed go straight the finish line, that’s why  runners who really completed the distance didn’t receive their finisher’s shirt.

Summit and Shadowfax Events
Congratulations for appreciating our Filipino Paralympic Athletes by means of organizing a running event like SUMMIT Run for Pinoy Glory to provide a support.
